under the category of "brother franz would be spinning in his grave if he knew...":.
a poster on another message board (a religious debate board, not jw-specific) mentioned that just before xmas, her husband was accosted outside their home by jws who managed to place literature with him.
instead of mentioning this to his wife, he simply placed the literature in her xmas stocking!
Either way, coal or JW "literature" both burn.

so...it's 1am here (give or take), and i'm browsing the web some.
doorbell rings.. at 1am.. police coming to bust my enormous mp3 collection?
hey, i'm paranoid!.
On the UN-paranoid side.... that could have been ME several years ago, when I was young. I was frequently out 1am and later. I worked at various eateries over the years and almost never had a ride home. I used to get really freaked out walking alone in the darkness and semi-darkness in all kinds of weather, hardly a car to be seen, if any. I was too scared to go ask a total stranger for a ride. I might have if I was more terrified of wild dogs... Sometimes the police would see me while they were out patrolling and they would take me home. I really love those guys!
THANK YOU POLICE OFFICERS FOR ALL THOSE RIDES!

this software can protect you from the evil mind control of the wts (and all the other baddies out there) forever!
unfortunately it only runs on linux but as you'll see, microsoft is in league with the mind control forces anyway, hell, bill gates may even be controlling the gb for all we know?
they do use primarily microsoft software in bethel.. i cannot overemphasise how important it is that everyone urgently replace windows with linux and install this software as soon as is humanly possible!.
Linux ROCKS! I'm using a Linux box right now. (do I get a brownie point?) I'm using Mandrake Linux currently, Redhat was also nice.

This whole thing, especially the last bit, makes me sick. I hate the WTBTS.
my best friend is well acquainted with jw's.
she has known me since both of our kids were in our bellies.
she was 18, i was 25. our kids were born and raised up together as brother and sister.
I am still going through a situation that has a slight similarity to this... There was no abuse that I know of, but my sister was neglecting her daughter very badly. We all finally stepped in and tried to save her. We should have gotten better advice because we failed to ensure my niece's well-being. I now have no contact with my sister or niece. It sucks, it really does, but now at least I know that I tried. We involved the courts, the police and the child protective people...
I would probobly do it again anyway, maybe with more planning and evidence gathering. My nice is not safe, but if my sis screws up again, and she will, there is now a nice big file on her in several official places.
Best of luck and bright blessings to you Country Girl.

after 16 beautiful days off with my children, sleeping in late, actually making family breakfest and all the other wonderfully "mommy" things to do without rushing - i'm back at work (bluck!!!!
) and the kids are back to school so the rushing begins again.
regardless of how people feel about christmas, i find that 2 week period of time my highlight of the entire year.
My older 2 kids are with their dad half the time. Every single day I get them is a school day, well, a week day. So I absolutely treasure every vacation, holiday, snowday! I am right there with you, Pettygrudger! I love the absense of all the rush! It's one of the reasons i keep considering homeschooling.

my friend was counseled for having a bad attitude because he wore white socks w/ his suit.
Wolfgirl, You are my hero!!! I was always getting counseled about my clothes and I was so timid... wish I'd been bold, like you were!

recent bizarre family events have led my mom a 35-year witness (she's in her mid 60s) and my dad, the unbelieving mate (he's in his early 70s) to consider putting their "affairs in order".
neither are ill in any way, but my mom's mother is not doing too well, leaving her care to be managed by my mother.. .
when grandma's husband died awhile back, the affairs were not prepared adequately, leaving a lot of headaches for those of us required to handle things.
Wow LaCapra,
that is amazing! I really love it that your mom picked you out as the beneficiary because you are the one who won't fall apart and will be fair. She must be very clear sighted for a jw. Wonders never cease.

I do not need shoes. I only buy new ones when my old ones fall apart. What I need are BOOKS! Lots and lots of books, in all colors and sizes! Just back the truck up to my house and dump them right through the door... but please don't bring me shoes.

"they" refers to the watchtower society, the elders, the brothers and sisters, etc.
when you look at how much control has been exerted over us over the years, you can't help but be amazed.
for example, if we had a major snowstorm in the area and the entire state was told by the governor to "please not go out", unless the call was made by the elders, the meeting was still on and you were expected to attend.
I was always being approached by elders wives and counseled about my clothes and hair and make-up. I am a pretty attractive woman, so I am told, by the time I was done following all their rules I was dressed dowdier than any grandmother... I noticed lots of other women wearing clothes that were like the ones I got counseled on and they were left in peace. WTF? I knew a woman in another hall that was also constantly counselled while others were left alone... What is with that?
